Irrigators in the NSW Murray region are eligible to apply for Exceptional Circumstances assistance.
19th May 2006
Up to 700 mixed irrigators in NSW's Murray Valley can now apply for interim Exceptional Circumstances (EC) drought support.
Australian Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Peter McGauran announced the declaration of a facie or interim EC assistance on 3rd March 2006. www.maff.gov.au/releases/06/06016pm.htm
Irrigators in the area can now apply to Centrelink for six months interim EC income support.
The declaration includes the local government areas of Berrigan, Conargo, Corowa, Deniliquin, Jerilderie, Murray, Urana and Wakool, and affects around 700 irrigators.
This declaration includes Goodnight, Koraleigh and Tooleybuc in the Wakool Shire, which are in the Sunraysia Service's area.
For more information or help with applications we strongly encourage irrigators to contact the Service or to contact Centrelink on 13 23 16 about their eligibility as soon as possible, to maximise available assistance.
